The Regional Skills Events are an interactive national series of careers, jobs and skills events for young people. Focusing on bringing young people together with employers, training providers, further education colleges and universities these free events open visitors’ minds to the range of employment and training opportunities available. Founded in 2007 the events showcase opportunities using a high level of interactivity; enabling exhibitors and visitors to come together, giving visitors the chance to get hands on and organisations the opportunity to explain their career routes and job opportunities. By engaging the visitors with focused taster activities exhibitors can access future recruits and candidates; inspiring them, entertaining them and most importantly informing them about genuine opportunities available. The events welcome visitors of all abilities and ambitions from year 10 and above to discuss all the different routes available at transition. Exhibitors offer apprenticeships, training, jobs as well as college and university courses. Many visitors arrive knowing very little about the careers they are interested in, or which industry sectors to consider, but the combination of interactive features and educational institutions and employers enable visitors to find out about careers and training all under one roof.
