Can I be an Ambassador?
Anyone can be a Construction Ambassador; you just need to be passionate about the construction industry and willing to share your career experiences with others. What is important is that you can help new entrants see the fantastic opportunities that are available in construction.
It's a great opportunity to:
- To inspire the next generation of young people to take up a career in the Construction Industry.
- To pass on your skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to potential new entrants so that together we can close the skills gap that we are facing within the Industry.
- To enhance your own personal development within the Industry and to give something back to those starting out.
You don't have to go it alone when you become a Construction Ambassador. We have all the information you'll need to make the most of the opportunity.
Benefits to your company
There are many benefits to having Construction Ambassadors represent your company. Reaching out to new entrants and helping them to understand construction career options, is good for the whole industry.
Other benefits may include:
- Raising your company's profile within the local area.
- Engaging with education.
- Enhancing or addressing your company’s community benefit targets.
To help you become an effective construction ambassador, you will be invited to attend a one day induction course. the duration of the training is normally 9:30am to 4:30pm. You'll receive more details about the training day via an email from the Go Construct team.
Where will this training take place?
If you are an individual or small group looking for training then you will need to register on the Go Construct site. Once registered you will be contacted to let you know when the next training dates are taking place in your region.
Alternatively your employer may be looking to host an in house training event and will inform you directly of venue and dates that have been selected.
What should I bring?
You and your knowledge/enthusiasm are the only essential things to bring along however you may find the following useful:
- Pictures or information about construction projects you've worked on
If your course is in Scotland, you will need to bring:
- Photographic ID
- Proof of address
- PVG disclosure check
What happens next?
Fill in the online application-form to become a Construction Ambassador.
Your information – we will hold basic information about you on our database. This helps us provide your company with reports, including the dates of courses and events that you have attended.
Can I give feedback?
Absolutely! Feedback is a very important aspect of the whole Construction Ambassador process, and it’s important to give your feedback during the training course and after you attend an event.
