Super structure

The super structure is the skeleton of the building – the bit that you can’t see, but holds everything upright and together. This is normally made from steel, wood, bricks, concrete or a combination of these materials.

1ST & 2ND Fixing

First fixing creates the interior structure such as ceilings, floors, pipes and wires. Second fixing covers this up with the things you see in the finished building such as window and doorframes, sockets and switches.

Repair, Maintenance & management

All buildings have a lifespan, and are regularly maintained to stop them degrading, and repaired when they do. They often also need managing if they are rented out like an office, shop or home, or perform a function such as a factory.
