SkillBuild competitions cover 10 craft occupations:
From March to June 2017, 17 regional SkillBuild competitions took place across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Over 1000 competitors from across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland competed in the 10 trades.
Trainees and apprentices from the across the country compete in their chosen trade with the highest scoring competitors overall invited to take part in the national final.
The level of competition increases for the seniors as they come together from all over the UK for the first time to compete in a 3 day competition held at The Skills Show, which takes place at the NEC, Birmingham, in November each year.
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are handed out at an awards ceremony taking place after the final day of competition finishes, and these winners can consider themselves the UK’s best in their industry. The highest scoring medal winners who are age and skill eligible can now progress through to Squad UK, with the potential to be selected to compete at an international level.
The SkillBuild 2017 UK National Final was held at The Skills Show 2017, from Thursday 16 to Saturday 18 November at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, B40 1NT.
You can read a report on the awards ceremony on the Skills Show website, see who the medal winners were on the CITB website or download a list of all the winners.
