I work for a company called Crest Nicholson PLC, which has an office local to where I live.

They’re a house building company with offices in the South and West of the UK.

I have friends and family working in the industry and seeing the work they do really interested me.

What made you want to go into the construction industry?

What made you want to get a construction job

I have family and friends who work in the construction industry and seeing the work they did really interested me. So I looked at the options available to getting into the industry, and I felt that a construction apprentice programme would be best for me as I could learn a trade and gain my qualification, whilst putting that learning into practice.

The mix of learning at college and practical work on site is really good and everyone on site is great to work with. I couldn’t ask for more.

What have you enjoyed so far about working in the construction industry?

The mix of college and practical learning on site is really good and everyone on site is great to work with. I couldn’t ask for anything more! I’ve been able to experience many different aspects of the construction job, from being on site and dealing with clients and employers to attending company events.

When I was looking at companies to work for I looked into Crest Nicholson. Not only would I be able to work locally, but as I carried on looking at the company, I was really happy with what I saw and that it was a great place to work.

Where do you want your career to progress?

I would like to get a job with contractors in Woolston. In the future, I’d really like to own my own construction company. I have four more months on my Level 2, and then I plan to complete my Level 3 qualification.
